Here at Woodside, you have discovered the 'other' Jamaica. Far from the annoyances of vendors on the too well known beaches of Jamaica. You have choosen a quite different route.Your friends who have been to Jamaica won't believe you have been on the same island they have visited when you describe the idyllic holdiday you enjoyed in the mountain fastness of Jamaica. The highest peak is less than nine miles away and is 2300 metres (7403 feet to be exact).Hiking trails abound both on the plantation and in the surrounding area. You can hike the Fairy Glade, a myriad of trails in Holywell National Forest, or Catherine's Peak within walking distance of the house. Words fail me when I try to convey the startling grandeur of the Blue Mountain Peaks surrounding Woodside. The plantation house is perched on a ledge at 1400 metres (4200 feet) above sea level, overlooking the city of Kingston and just south of Hardwar Gap. In the heart of the most famous coffee growing region in the world. Savour a cup with breakfast or after dinner. If you are a coffee lover you will be delighted with the subtile flavours in your cup. |
